Our Beginnings...

Rail Plus origins stem from the mid 1980’s when the former travel division of National Australia Bank established a specialist rail GSA unit. The Rail Plus name was subsequently coined in 1990.

 

Our Emergence...

Through the ensuing years, whilst having a number of changes in shareholding, Rail Plus has maintained and grown its recognised market position as Australasia’s leading international rail specialist, supplying to all leading retail travel agent groups and wholesale companies.Operating from its Melbourne headquarters, Rail Plus has provided a national booking and ticketing facility for the Australian travel industry.

 

Our Partnerships...

In early 1999 the major rail principal supplier to Rail Plus, namely Rail Europe entered into a joint venture agreement to acquire a 50% interest in the Rail Plus business, which coincided with the establishment of a Rail Plus branch office in Auckland NZ.
On 1st January, 2016 Rail Europe decided to step up its presence around Australasia and acquired full ownership of Rail Plus.
Rail Europe is an international marketing group of the French and Swiss national railways, representing all major European railway networks.

 

Our Role...

Today, Rail Plus is the leading dedicated international rail specialist GSA in Australia & NZ. Through its head office in Melbourne and a branch in Auckland, it services the national retail and wholesale markets in both countries with its strengthened representative obligations through the equity relationship with Rail Europe, complemented by a portfolio of other international rail and associated product. Its goal is to maintain and grow its clear specialist and unique position.
